Volunteering with PACT gives you the chance to make a meaningful difference at a critical time. You’ll support children, young people and vulnerable adults through challenging court experiences, offering reassurance, stability and hope during a time of uncertainty.  

As a PACT Support Volunteer, you’ll be part of Queensland’s leading victim support charity, doing work that is significant, impactful and deeply rewarding. While the role can be emotionally demanding, many volunteers find the sense of purpose, personal growth and community impact truly life changing.

What it means to be a PACT support person

Volunteering as a PACT Support Volunteer is a chance to use your empathy, resilience and life experience in a role with depth and purpose. 

You’ll gain insight into the justice system, develop strong communication and emotional support skills, and become part of a trusted team working alongside people at vulnerable moments in their lives.  

As a PACT volunteer, you will:
  • Receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to build confidence in the role (no legal experience required)  
  • Be part of an expanding service that includes support for vulnerable child and adult witnesses
  • Connect with a diverse, value-driven community of volunteers and professionals

Be a Consistent and Trusted Support Person PACT volunteers act as a trusted advisor for our clients, providing steady, reliable support so they never feel alone during their court journey.
Educate Victims or Witnesses about Court PACT volunteers help to answer questions and explain the court process in simple, reassuring ways so clients understand what to expect and feel more prepared.
Be Physically Present at Court PACT volunteers attend court alongside clients, offering calm, grounding support from arrival through to the end of their time in court.
Empower Clients to Feel Heard and Understood PACT volunteers listen with empathy and empower clients to express their needs, ensuring they feel respected, valued, and understood.
Support Victims to Give Their Best Evidence PACT volunteers provide reassurance and practical guidance that helps clients feel confident and able to share their story clearly and safely.
Contribute to the PACT Community PACT volunteers strengthen the wider organisation by sharing insights, supporting one another and helping improve services for everyone.
