What will happen in Court?
The Defendant will be in the Courtroom, but not visible to you. Your PACT support person will bring you into the Court in a way that means you don’t have to worry about running into them or their family.
If you turn 17 before going to Court, you may have to attend the Courtroom in person. Talk to your Prosecutor and PACT Support Person about what you have to do.
When giving evidence there are a few important things to remember:
- Tell the truth.
- You’re not in trouble.
- It’s normal to feel nervous.
- It’s okay to ask questions.
- There are no silly questions.
- It’s okay to ask for a break.
- Your PACT Support Person will be with you.
It’s really important to tell the truth in court, this will help the Judge make the right decision.
